Wednesday 9 September 2015 members of SPA joined forces with Unite in Swindon to demonstrate against the Zero Hour contracts and working conditions for employees of Sports Direct. On Saturday 5 September Swindon town centre was the place local groups and people from all walks of life showed their solidarity for the refugees escaping war zones and respect for the thousands of individual human beings, men, women and children who have drowned in their desperate attempt to escape.Read more

At M&S distribution centre more than 400 of the workers at the Wincanton depot, which operates as part of the British brand’s distribution chain, are employed by an employment agency, 24.7 Recruitment. They are then formally employed through a further company, called Tempay Ltd, and are paid the minimum wage.
But another 300 workers doing the same job are employed directly by Wincanton at a rate of £8.45 per hour – £2 an hour more.
We are going to demonstrate outside the M&S store in Regent Street on two occassions(13th and 20th). We are using the outfits and leaflets used by the GMB.
Whilst Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne was delivering his annual Autumn Statement to Parliament on Wednesday 10 December, protestors in Swindon town centre were publicising the Government’s policies of cutting back on public spending and damaging ordinary people.Read more
