The Government should reverse damaging austerity, and replace it with a new set of policies providing us with a fair, sustainable and secure future. We will no longer tolerate politicians looking out for themselves and for the rich and powerful. Our political representatives must start governing in the interests of the majority. We, the undersigned, demand:

  • Re-nationalise our services & remove private profit from health, education and social services
  • A statutory living wage, abolish zero hour contracts, end the wage freeze
  • Invest in building social housing, abolish the bedroom tax & place a cap on private rents
  • A higher tax on the rich & a clamp down on tax avoidance
  • Reverse all spending cuts
  • Invest in creating green jobs
  • Increases to welfare and pensions should be tied to inflation
  • A stop to scapegoating of immigrants or those on welfare
  • A publically owned, democratic banking system
  • End the cost of war in blood and money: no military interventions, no Trident replacement

There are so many more have not’s than haves, why doesn’t everyone sign this. There is no fairness in austerity measures it just hits the vulnerable, the disabled, the young, the average family scrapping by, it hits the welfare system, funny that it’s called welfare.

With the new budget plans for wages and university fees, as a 19 y/o uni student trying to save for a masters degree, my own accommodation and car so I can travel to work, I am utterly ruined. While my older counterparts will receive more money (which will mean shops up their prices) I will continue on barely anything which will now pay for even less. I have to work so I can afford my education and accommodation, but working while learning means my learning time takes a nosedive and my stress levels just keep creeping up. I am 19 years old, I should NOT already be thinking about this amount of debt. I should NOT be expected to work full 9 hour days just to afford the cheapest flat so I can avoid three hour university commutes. The new budget plans masquerade as helping everyone, but they cannot be spun in any way to say they benefit young people and students.

austerity should be for the private banks who created this accounting mess , not the people who are suffering because of them. Banksters and their politicians? Up against the wall!

Putting lone parents onto JSA when there child turns 5 is when the child needs to be focased on there transition into school. A lone parent who is on income support should not be on JSA until there main focus on getting there child settled in school. I think the cut off of income support should be raised back to at leiste a lone parent with 7 year old
