Firstly, a reminder about tomorrow's North London People's Assembly Against Austerity planning meeting, Thurs 6th February, 7pm, the Old Fire Station, 84 Mayton Street, London, N7 6QT.
The agenda includes building next week's 'Hands Off Our Unions' rally, sending delegates to the People's Assembly recall conference in March and promoting our 'The People Vs Austerity' rally with Dianne Abbott, TSSA general secretary Manuel Cortez and more.
As you know, the tubes are shut until Friday because tube workers are striking to stop Boris Johnson's devastating cuts to London Underground, so remember to leave extra time to travel to the meeting by alternative transport.
It's inspiring to see that 65 percent of tube passengers support the strikes according to a Survation poll. Transport unions the RMT and the TSSA both have some good background info on the strikes. You can also download a RMT leaflet to hand out to the public.
If you are able to, please go along to your nearest picket line to show your support tomorrow morning. There are also revenue strikes this Friday, Monday and next Friday where passengers can travel free because tube workers won't be collecting ticket money and the turnstiles will be open. This is an innovative way to build public support for the strike campaign. Please show your support and remind fellow passengers of the issues behind the stirkes.
All the best,
The North London People's Assembly team
