George Osborne wants to cut the tie between us, our NHS, our patients, our colleagues, our hopes and our dreams. Taking out a loan of over 50k to pay for a healthcare degree which will then be taken from a salary which is capped at a 1% rise over the next four years and not in line with national living costs is unaffordable. Furthermore, the fact we work as part of the team on placements and directly contribute to patient care is an accolade to us all, to take away our bursary is insulting and appalling.
The Peoples Assembly support the King's College London Nursing and Midwifery Society.
They say, 'We propose a MARCH through London on the 9th of January 2016 (before the issue is debated in parliament) to show we will NOT STAND for these cruel cuts.
PLEASE COME ALONG, SPREAD AND SHARE THE WORD AND LETS BE HEARD AND SEEN.
Make placards, wear scrubs, uniforms (make sure any logos are covered), arrange coaches from your local area (you could ask universities/unions for help with travel costs), tell your parents, your friends, your neighbour, the shopkeeper around the corner, your mentors....Tell EVERYONE as this affects us ALL.
Our bursary is our LIFELINE.'
Meet at St Thomas Hospital, Westminster Bridge. Route to be announced soon.
