10th July: Industrial Action across the North West. #J10

Thursday 10th July will see a number of unions, including Unison, Unite, GMB, NUT, FBU & PCS take strike action across the region.

In Manchester there will be a rally at Piccadilly Gardens at 12:30pm.

For those of you who weren't able to attend last night's meeting we heard from several teachers and ex-teachers about how their profession is being destroyed by the government's ideological attack on the public sector. Christine Blower, General Secretary of the National Union of Teachers, also spoke about the need for coordinated strike action and how the People's Assembly is uniting the anti-austerity movement. In her own words the Assembly is "the biggest game in town".

Demand the Alternative. No Cuts.

We had a great turnout from Manchester to the London Demo.

A big thank you to the Trade unions and individuals who donated to send two full coaches with free places for un-waged supporters. Many more travelled by train. A really hard-working team sold T-shirts relentlessly throughout the day and the rest of us did our bit buying and eating cake on the coach! All to raise much needed funds.
