Lincoln protest against the Cuts

Assemble at 12pm, Wednesday 19 March
Speakers Corner, corner High Street and Cornhill, Lincoln

Trade unionists and anti-cuts campaigners are to hold a protest against cuts in Lincoln city centre as the Budget is announced in Parliament.

The protest has been called by a Lincoln & District TUC – a union federation whose affiliated branches represent thousands of workers in the public- and private-sector in the Lincoln area – and is also being supported by Lincoln Disabled People Against Cuts.

Nick Parker, Secretary of Lincoln & District TUC, said, “working-class people are sick and tired of continually being asked to pay the price for an economic crisis that we didn’t cause.

“Real-terms pay cuts, unemployment, worse pensions, and the destructions of our public services are what we’re expected to put up with because fat-cat bankers and the politicians who serve them ruined the economy.

“We’re calling on people in Lincoln who want an alternative of investment in decent pay, secure jobs, and properly-funded public services to join us on Wednesday lunchtime in demanding an alternative to Osborne’s Budget of cuts.”

The protest will take place on Wednesday 19th March from 12noon at Speakers Corner on the corner of the High Street and Cornhill. For more information, please contact Nick on 07793692201 or email
