HS2 meeting in Derby to discuss return to public ownership

Public Ownership of Railways.

There are a couple of opportunities for us to raise Public Ownership of Railways in the near future.

The first is the meeting on HS2.

Thursday 4th December, 7pm, at Derby Council House

PUBLIC FORUM: “HS2? What do we need for Derby?’

Introduced by Christian Wolmar, Britain’s leading transport commentator.

Supported by Derby Unite Community branch, Derby Climate Coalition and the TSSA union.

Derby City Council will be giving an update. Guests from political parties, the unions and community organisations are invited to share their thoughts.

Tickets (free but essential) to be booked from http://hs2inderby.eventbrite.co.uk/

The second  is the leafleting outside Derby Railway Station

Monday, 5th of January, 7.30 am to 9.am at Derby Railway Station

Rail fares go up once again, and once again above the rate of inflation, on Friday January the 2nd. There will be national press coverage and protests outside railways stations the following Monday, the day that commuters go back to work. This is being organised by community groups, co-ordinated by the Peoples Assembly (see here) and supported by Action for Rail

The event in Derby is taking place from 7.30 am to 9.am. Something will be happening in Burton later that day. Drop us a line if you can help
