Fenland Disability Day

Fenland People's Assembly have organised an event for people with or without disabilities to raise awareness of the difficulties and disproportionate impact of the reforms and the demonisation of the disabled community.

We have some great speakers for our informal event, where you will get the chance to speak to people who are fighting your corner...and have been for some time.

It will also be an opportunity to meet others in similar situations and discuss how we can move forward.

Jonathan Toye (WNDiS) Speaking on the Work Capability Assessment, ATOS and the appeals and tribunals system.Andrew Bolland (StopHate) will be discussing hate crime and what can be done about it within your community.A GMB representative (TBA) - Parking and access.Mark Harrison (DPAC - Disabled People Against Cuts) - the effects of austerity on those already struggling with disabilities. Not just speakers - they are also there to LISTEN.

Great venue booked. Wheelchair access and facilities. Free parking.

Event funded by Fenland People's Assembly, King's Lynn & District Trades Council, Wisbech Trades Council, The GMB Union and others.

The list of speakers has been amended to include a segment by Mia West, a volunteer with WNDiS and Citizen's Advice Bureau, about parking and access in and around King's Lynn. Particularly around the issue of public transport and the progress she has made in this area.
