On 25 January 2016 the Cambridge student Giulio Regeni disappeared in Cairo, where he was conducting research on Egypt's trade unions. His murdered body was found nine days later. A year since Giulio's abduction there is still no justice for him, nor for the hundreds of Egyptians similarly disappeared under President Sisi's government (see Amnesty International's Egypt report of July 2016).
This Friday, supporters of the Cambridge People's Assembly will be among those to join organizers Amnesty Cambridge City and the university staff union Cambridge UCU for a vigil in memory of Giulio. We're asked to bring tealights and placards with the message, 'Truth for Giulio Regeni'.
