Saturday 1 July / 12 midday / BBC Broadcasting House, Portland Place, London W1A 1AA
The general election on 8 June wiped out the Conservative Party's parliamentary majority, in a strong reaction against a grim platform based on continued austerity. The People's Assembly has called a national demonstration on Saturday 1 July against the Conservative leader Theresa May's attempts to sustain a government, under the slogan Not One Day More.
This demonstration was called just before the deadly fire at the Grenfell Tower flats, but will now carry our shock, grief, and anger at that tragedy, and the obscene inequality that prepared it.
The Cambridge People's Assembly will provide free coach transport to and from London for the demonstration, although we apologize that we were unable to find a wheelchair-accessible vehicle at short notice.
Our coach will pick up passengers from the Backs on Queens' Road, and from the Unite the Union office near the Park and Ride site on Madingley Road. We'll meet from 9.30 a.m. ready for the coach to leave Cambridge at 10, and leave London at 4 p.m.
