Saturday 28 November / 2 p.m. / King's Parade (outside King's College), Cambridge CB2
Cambridge Stop the War Coalition will hold a rally tomorrow (supported by the Cambridge People's Assembly and others) to protest the government's intended bombing campaign in Syria. Its enthusiasm for this adventure is a reminder that what Britain can and can't afford is a question of political priorities, and here again they're badly mistaken.
We believe that British military intervention will only worsen the terrible and complicated war in the country, and that bombing can hardly impair the Islamic State organization's capability for more savage terrorist attacks. After Britain's disastrous recent interventions in Iraq and Libya, we have to seek a different path.
The rally will be followed at 3 p.m. by a vigil outside the Guildhall in Market Square.
