Friday 22 April / 3.30 p.m. / King's Parade, Cambridge CB2
The Cambridge University and Cambridge City Amnesty International groups, supported by Egypt Solidarity Initiative, will hold a rally and photo call on King's Parade tomorrow as part of Amnesty's 'Truth for Giulio' campaign. The campaign calls for a serious investigation of the murder in Cairo of Giulio Regeni, the Cambridge doctoral student who had been working in Egypt on the unwelcome subject of independent labour organization.
Amnesty plans to assemble photographs of rallies around the world to demonstrate undiminished public concern, not only for Giulio but for the hundreds of Egyptians disappeared and tortured under the country's present government. The Cambridge People's Assembly is appalled and saddened by Giulio's murder (see our statement of 5 March) and will do all it can to raise awareness of this campaign.
