Birmingham Mobilises for Protests at Tory Conference

Join us at the 'Birmingham Mobilises for Protests at Tory Conference' organising meeting.
Tuesday 6 September
PCS Regional Office,
16 Waterloo Street,
Birmingham B2 5UG
This will be a vital moment for all the different communities to come together and build the demonstrations against the Tory Party conference in October, their first Conference under the leadership of Theresa May. For more info about our planned events, which include 'The People's Conference, Our alternatives to Austerity' and our National Demonstration, 'Tories Out, Austerity has failed' on the 1st and 2nd of October, click here:
The political situation has changed dramatically over recent months. The result of the EU referendum sent shockwaves across the political establishment. David Cameron and George Osborne have been forced out of office, Boris Johnson's leadership bid was stopped in its tracks and the Tories are a weak and divided government. Theresa May spoke of a fairer Britain for all in her Downing Street speech on becoming Prime Minister. It is a testamant to the anti-austerity movement that even the Tories are being forced to adopt our language.
But we know that this is mere spin. May has cobbled together a reactionary cabinet of political failures and she was at the heart of the austerity project as a senior minister in Cameron's government. Cuts and attacks on our communities will continue and deepen under her leadership.
*We have called this meeting to plan and discuss action and activities ahead of the National Demonstration on Sunday 2nd October that we will be hosting with Midlands TUC and the People's Conference on Saturday 1st October.*
We will be joined by key activists from across the labour and progressive movement for this important meeting hosted by PCS Birmingham Region.
